Arnold H. Glasgow

"In life as in football, you won't go far unless you know where the goal posts are." - Arnold H. Glasgow I think what this quote means is that you won't know what you are aiming towards unless you set goals for yourself. I think it is important to set goals for yourself because then you have something to work towards. I have goals of my own for example, one of my goals is to maintain A's in all of my classes. Another goal of mine would be to be on time to all of my classes. I also think that long term and short term goals are important too because then you have a goal for the week and a goal for a long time. I always work hard towards my goals because i'm always proud of myself whenever I accomplish a goal. I also believe that people should definitely set goals for themselves. Most of my goals are school related but I also have goal that I have set for out of school. I also think that people shouldn't give up on their goals just because they are hard the

Why or why not?  I would not like to be one because I don't like going anywhere near anyone's eyes. I don't think I would enjoy this job very much anyways because I think I would get bored of it quickly. The salary for this profession is below the average salary and I think that it isn't a good thing either. I don't think this job is for me because I'm not interested in these types of careers. I wouldn't like to be in an office all the time too because I cant stay in a room all day. I get bored easily and I think that if I get

Count Leo Tolstoy

Image
"Only those live who do good." - Count Leo Tolstoy I think what this quote means is that people who do good throughout their life will truly live their full potential. For example, if you are always donating to charity or helping the poor you will live a happy life because you know how much good you are doing and you will be happy with yourself. I would rather do the right thing and be happy and content with myself. Instead doing the wrong thing and be disappointed in myself. In my opinions I would rather everyone do the right thing and be happy because its important to see others happy. I think what the guy did to return the stolen money to the lady was kind of him. I think it was kind because he didn't know if it was hers or not but he wanted to repay his fathers debt. Also for the lady to choose to pay for his bad trip was sweet of her too because she knew it wasn't his fault but he still wanted apologize. I also like what he said about not being like your parent

Optometrist

Duties and responsibilities:   perform vision tests and analyze results d iagnose sight problems, such as nearsightedness or farsightedness, and eye diseases Salary: 103,900 USD Education: doctoral or professional degree Demands or needs for this profession:  A  desire to help people,  a caring and compassionate nature,  an understanding and comprehension of biology and physiology,  strong communication skills,  the technical skill to operate a variety of optometry equipment,  the ability to perform detailed and precise work. Reflection: Would you like to be one? Why or why not?     I would not like to be one because i would get grossed out with touching other peoples eye. I don't get grossed out very easily but touching or having to do a surgery on someones eye. Eyes are so delicate and I think that you can mess up very easily and if you do you'll get sued. I think it is an interesting job and it has a good salary but I wouldn't do this job.

Albert Einstein

"What's right isn't always popular. What's popular isn't always right." - Albert Einstein I think what this quote means is that Whatever you do isn't' always going to be popular an that's ok. I think it also means that some people will try to convince you to do something that may be popular but it isn't always right. For example if someone is trying to get you to use drugs and you don't accept them people will think you aren't cool but its ok because you know that you did good. On the other hand if they do offer you drugs and you do accept them they will think you are cool but you did the wrong thing and that will stick with you forever. It is ultimately up to you if you choose to use drugs in the end. I would not use drugs even if people thought I wasn't cool. I would not fall under peer pressure and ruin my life because of drugs. You can get addicted to drugs the first time you use it and I will not just throw away my life like

lucid dreaming

I chose this topic because it is interesting. I have always liked learning  about these types of things and I have always  been drawn to it. Lucid dreaming seems fascinating  to me because you get to choose what you dream about. You wouldn't  have nightmares  unless you want to and you would dream whatever you want.  A lucid dream is a dream during which the dreamer is aware of dreaming. During lucid dreaming, the dreamer may be able to exert some degree of control over the dream characters, narrative, and environment. Lucid dreaming an be really fun because it's an escape a fantasy. Along with positive tings with lucid  dreaming there can be risks too. Some people can experience sleep paralysis which is where a person is in a state between being awake and being asleep . During sleep paralysis people have said that they have experienced nightmares while they were awake so they have seen things that weren't actually there. When you try lucid dreaming for the first time you

Salary: $45,730 USD  Education: A certificate or Associates degree in surgical technology Demand or needs for this profession: They need to be fit and strong because they are sometimes required to lift objects over 100 pounds.  Reflection: Would you like to be one? Why or Why not?    I think I would like to be one because this job seems interesting and I would never get bored of what I would be doing. I think I would have to pat very close attention to what I would be doing though because you can easily mess up and there would be complications. I also believe that surgeries can take a very long time depending on what type of surgery is needed and how badly the patients condition is. The pay is very low though it is below the average salery. I think that would be

Weekend Effect

You are more likely to die on the weekend in the hospital. Doctors call is the "weekend effect". Patients are more likely to die off-hours  whether it's due to a  brain bleed , a  heart attack  or a  clot in the lungs. Ten years after a 2008 study showed lower survival rates during nights or weekends for in hospital cardiac arrest. The new study builds on that previous research, finding that treatment has indeed gotten better, but we haven't closed the night-and-weekends gap.  Between 2000 and 2014, weekday survival jumped from 16% to 25.2%, while weekend and weeknight survival rose from 11.9% to 21.9%, according to the new study's risk-adjusted numbers. About half of the patients in the study more ten 150,000 patients from 470 US hospitals experienced cardiac arrest off-hours. Research has also found that children admitted to the hospital for common, urgent surgeries on weekends had a higher adjusted risk of death, blood transfusions, and other complications. Res

Wrong is never right

"Even is everyone is doing it, wrong is never right." - Russel M. Nelson I think this quot means that no matter how many people are doing it or how many people are trying to convince you to do something bad it will never be right so don't do it. For example, if everyone you know is drinking alcohol you shouldn't fall under per pressure and start drinking alcohol too. Sometimes people just want to do something because it makes them look cool or they want to fit in with certain crowds. It doesn't matter to them if what they are doing is wrong what matters to them is fitting in. I would never do anything like that I would rater do good and not fit in than do bad and fit in. I understand that some people just want to fit in but I don't think that its worth it. You will regret it later and then when you ant to join another crowd they will only know you for all the bad you have done.

Salary: $619,530 USD Education: A first professional degree Demands or Needs for this profession: Speaking skills, selective listening skills, reading comprehension, critical thinking. Reflection: Would you like to be one? Why or Why not?  I would like to become one because it seems like a interesting job to do. I would never get bored of it. Being able  to fight against someone in court seems interesting. I would love this job because I would be defending a client and if my client won then I would be happy and feel very accomplished. I like to declare why I am right sometimes so I think this job is good for me.

Never

"You can't be right by doing wrong, you can't be wrong by doing right." - Thomas S. Monson you cant do the wrong thing and expect people to think it is the right thing. And when you do the right thing you aren't wrong because you are doing the right thing to do. For example when you steal something but your friends are saying its a good thing. It isn't because your stealing from the store owner and then you will feel guilty at the end because you didn't do the right thing. And another example is when you copy another student's work and say it is your own. Then you feel guilty about it and confess to your teacher your doing the right thing even if others say you should have kept it as your own.

The harmful effects of Marijuana

Marijuana can interfere with motor coordination, short-term memory, and concentration. And  regular marijuana smoking can damage the respiratory tract. If you become a regular user and suddenly  stop because you lose access to weed you may start to feel angry and tense. In 2013  114,712,000 people aged 12 and up have used marijuana in their lifetime.  This view has received considerable support from studies in animals, which have shown, for example, that prenatal or adolescent exposure to THC can re-calibrate  the sensitivity of the reward system to other drugs. Also that  prenatal exposure interferes with cytoskeletal dynamics, which are critical for the establishment of axonal connections between neurons.  As compared with unexposed controls, adults who smoked marijuana regularly during adolescence have impaired neural connectivity (fewer fibers) in specific brain regions.   In addition, imaging studies in persons who use cannabis have revealed decreased activity in prefrontal regi

Enthusiasm

"Enthusiasm makes the difference." Dr. Norman Vincent Peale I think what this quote means is that is your happy and joyous about something then the thing that you are doing will be good because you are having fun. I try and do things with enthusiasm and they always turn out good if I have it. For example, if you go to the beach in a bad mood then you wont have fun and enjoy the day. But if you go in a happy mood and you are all excited and happy about it then you will have a lot of fun and not regret it. I do think that enthusiasm makes a difference in everything that you do. It gets things done quicker too. The way things turn out all depends on you and the way you feel towards it. I think enthusiasm is a necessity in life. Younger kids have a lot of enthusiasm but as they get older that starts to go away. They become more distant and less happy about the things they used to love. I think that everyone should have enthusiasm, it makes everything happier.

Salary:  80,150 USD Education: a masters degree in occupational therapy Demand or Needs for this profession: communication skills, compassion, flexibility, impersonal skills, patience, writing skills Reflection: Would you like to be one? why or why not?    I would not like to be an occupational therapist because the job seems boring. I don't think I would enjoy doing this job because all I would do is watch a patient and write down was what going on. It is a good paying job and you would be doing the right thing

"I wasn't trying to leave a legacy. I was trying to do he right thing." - Dean Smith I think what this quote means is that Dean Smith didn't want to be known for all the games he won or how many awards he received, he wanted to do the right thing for his players. He didn't even want the stadium to be named after him because he didn't care for it. Some of his players went on to be part of bigger basketball teams like the Lakers. Dean Smith was loved by many people for all the things he has done for his team. He didn't like being the center of attention but everyone felt like all the attention should be on him because he was that important. Dean smith wanted to retire but his players persuaded him to coach a few more games and that is how he became the greatest coach of all time. Coaching his players made him happy and seeing their coach made the players happy. He won 879 games before he actually retired.

Salary: $121,661 Education:  A bachelor's  degree  in healthcare  administration . Demand or need for this profession:  Attending a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation for Healthcare Management Education (CAHME) is strongly recommended. Reflection:Would you like to become one? why or Why not?       I think I would want to become one because elderly people are sweet and kind and helping them is a good thing to do. Sometimes parents or grandparent will be left at a nursing home and never get any visitors because they don't want to anyone's problem. I think that is a terrible thing to do bec

"Its not about how to achieve your dreams. Its about how to lead your life the RIGHT WAY, the karma (good results, destiny, fortune, good luck) will take care if itself. The dreams will come to you." - Dr. Randy Pausch I think what this quote means is that it doesn't matter how you achieve your dreams or your goals. What matters is that you are living your life the right way and you're living life to its fullest. For example, a way to live your life the right way is to be a positive person. Look at life in a more positive way treat others in a positive way. Another way is not hold grudges. Forgive them and if you cant bring yourself to fully forgive them walk away from them and people like them and don't turn back. The people that have done bad things to you will get what they deserve sooner or later. if you really truly want to do something then do it. If you don't do it then you will regret it later in life because you will have missed out on the opportuni

School Break Days

For winter break I stayed home for a week then I went to my grandmas house for the remainder of the break. While I was at home I helped take care of my brothers and relaxed. When I went to my grandmas house I didn't really do anything on weekends my grandma and I went out to the movies. I went to the mall with my aunt and bought stuff. The movies I watched were Pitch Perfect 3, and The Star. A book that I read was "The Girl Who Could Fly". I was sick the entire break I had the Flu and I felt miserable. I watched movies and T.V shows on Netflix most of the time. I didn't really do anything besides that. Other days I cleaned and did laundry. I washed my dogs, I groomed them and I put them inside because of the cold.
